Housing Summer Job Descriptions

STARTING RATE OF PAY FOR EVERY POSITION IS $10.00
LENGTH OF SUMMER EMPLOYMENT: MAY 21 - AUGUST 24

PAINT CREW-20 positions

Duties: Painting bedrooms and common areas within residence halls and apartments. Work will involve surface preparation, wall and trim painting as well as cleaning tools and the work area.  High work standards, good work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work on a team is a must.  On the job training will be provided.

REPAIR CREW-20 positions

Duties:  Inspect, maintain and repair furniture in residence hall rooms and lounges.  Work includes minor carpentry repairs on furniture and facilities and preparing rooms for occupancy. Repairs are performed using basic hand and power tools. Attention to detail, good work ethic, high standards and ability to work on a team are required.  On the job training will be provided.

FURNITURE MOVING CREW-12 positions

Duties: Move, assemble and set-up of furniture in student rooms and lounges to best utilize space. Maintain, organize and clean storage rooms. Must be able to lift heavy objects. High work standards, good work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work on a team is a must.  On the job training will be provided.

CONFERENCE OFFICE ASSISTANT - 2 part time positions (approx 20 hours per week)

Duties: Support the summer conference program by providing excellent customer service in person and on the phone. A successful candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, be able to maintain professional demeanor when under pressure, have strong administrative and organizational skills as well as a keen eye for detail.

HOSPITALITY PREP CREW - 2 positions (approx 30-35 hours per week)

These positions provide excellent service to customers for summer conference guests.They help ensure that all campus rooms are clean and prepared to greet the students returning to campus in August. Duties include inspecting and preparing rooms before and after conferences; moving large appliances; lifting 25 pounds; distributing and collecting linen; and restocking inventory supplies. Candidates must be able to work independently or on small teams and have a valid driver’s license without moving violations on record. Additionally, candidates should be dependable, have good customer service skills, be comfortable with driving a large commercial van, and have strong attention to details.

NETWORKED SYSTEMS ASSISTANTS (cable TV, card access, etc.) – 2 positions

These positions provides excellent service to customers for summer conference guests. They help ensure that all campus rooms are clean and prepared to greet the students returning to campus in August. LAUNDRY MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTS – 2 positions

Duties: Clean laundry areas and machines. Assist staff with the maintenance, repair and installation of laundry machines such as washers/dryers. Work with cleaning supplies. Will also use basic hand and power tools. Work performed under supervision of qualified personnel. High work standards, good work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work on a team is a must.  On the job training will be provided.

CLEANING CREW- 18 positions

Duties:  Clean all areas within the Gables, Woodside, and Forest Park apartment complexes both inside and out.  This includes kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, floors, carpets, light grounds and repair work, etc.  High work standards, good work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work on a team is a must.  On the job training will be provided.

HOUSING OFFICE ASSISTANT- 2 positions

This position is the “face of housing” and provides excellent service to customers at the front desk and on the phone, coordinating and leading residence hall room tours to incoming first year students and a variety of other projects as assigned. Applicants must be committed to diversity and love working in a fast paced and ever changing environment. A keen eye for detail, professionalism, and strong administrative and organizational skills are critical as HOA’s represent the Housing Department and our mission.

HOUSING IT ASSISTANT- 2 positions

Duties: Responsibilities include assisting the department with our Drupal site and our new student portal.  Specifically, content editing and development, image and graphic manipulation, portal application testing and data entry. Our ideal candidate is a good written and oral communicator, can follow a flow chart and is willing to learn new skills. Desired majors: Communications, Business, Computer Science
