What do you do to make a healthy UNH?
I wear my mask around campus and stay home when I’m sick to reduce the spread of COVID within the Durham community. I also try to walk to my classes instead of driving or taking the bus to reduce air pollution as well as to fit some extra exercise in.
Do you have any tips for eating healthfully?
Don’t restrict yourself from eating things that you love but don’t consider “healthy”. Eat what you want, in moderation of course, and be creative with your meals by trying new things!
Have you made any tangible improvements regarding your movement or physical activity by making positive changes in your life?
Instead of taking the bus, I try to walk as much as I can around campus to get some extra exercise in. Sometimes I also do yoga before bed to relax and relieve stress!
Do you have any positive words of encouragement for members of our audience who are feeling completely drained and burnt out from this pandemic?
Take time to focus on yourself and what makes you happy. Don’t be afraid to put your mental health first and take breaks to relieve stress!
What do you do to improve your emotional wellness?
Exercising 6-7 times a week gives me a few hours a day to shut out the world and focus on myself and what will make me feel good.
What does health mean to you?
Health means feeling comfortable, confident, clean, and energized in my own body.
Over the last year, have you felt more comfortable advocating for yourself when receiving healthcare?
I’ve always felt comfortable advocating for myself and listening to what my body needs!
