What do you do to make a healthy UNH?

To make UNH healthy I wear a mask to make sure I am not spreading COVID to my classmates. When I am getting around campus, I choose to walk rather than drive to not only help with UNH traffic, but to also reduce pollution on campus and in the world. Lastly, I use my positive mindset and energy to uplift everyone around me!

Do you have any tips for eating healthfully?

Be mindful! Don’t think of food as good or bad, but instead think of food as fuel for your body. When you categorize foods, it only causes a bad mentality when you are eating, making you feel guilty after indulging in certain foods. Eat your fruits and colorful veggies and mix in a cookie once in awhile…one cookie won’t kill ya!

Have you made any tangible improvements regarding your movement or physical activity by making positive changes in your life?

Improvement in my physical life has come from a positive mindset and listening to my body. In the past year I have treated my daily movement and exercise as enjoyment rather than a task. Listening to your body is key approach to making improvements.

Do you have any positive words of encouragement for members of our audience who are feeling completely drained and burnt out from this pandemic?

Do something you love whether that’s a nap, reading a book, working out, or eating yummy food. Sometimes you need to allow yourself to take a break from your normal routine to get yourself back on track!

What do you do to improve your emotional wellness?

To improve my emotional wellness, I often journal or meditate when I am stressed out to help me recenter myself. Sometimes when I am having a bad day I go on a walk and listen to a podcast to clear my head.

What does health mean to you?

Health to me means prioritizing my physical and mental well-being. Health is making sure I am putting myself first by eating the proper nutrition, getting enough rest, and enjoying everyday.

Over the last year, have you felt more comfortable advocating for yourself when receiving healthcare?
