Wildcat Plate

The plate advocates for healthier food choices and portion sizes based on the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines. It contains four different sections of fruits, whole grains, vegetables and lean protein, each with helpful descriptions and colorful graphics. The Wildcat Plate also encourages “Delicious, Nutritious, Healthy and Sustainable” decisions in and out of the dining halls.

Allergen Friendly Stations

Pre-pandemic: Philbrook and Holloway Commons had an Allergen Friendly station with prepared exclusively with ingredients that do not contain gluten (barley, wheat, rye) plus the 8 most common food allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybean. (Stillings had the Wellness station).

During the pandemic (as of Fall 2020): the Allergen Friendly stations are open in Stillings and Philbrook only.

Handling Nutrition Concerns

We assist guests who have varying degrees of nutrition needs, from gluten-free diets, to multiple food allergies and intolerances. From menu tags on the service lines outlining potential allergens, to online menus, gluten-friendly zones and an online special meal service, UNH Dining is able to assist.

Rochelle can help with a variety of issues such as choosing menu items that include all the food groups, vegetarian or vegan options, product or recipe information, food allergies, intolerance or related necessities.

Guiding Stars Program

UNH Dining introduced the Guiding Stars® program into campus for the 2009/2010 academic year in an effort to provide students, faculty and staff with the most nutritious food choices. Guiding Stars® features a proprietary algorithm that rates the nutrient density of foods per 100 calories based on USDA, FDA, WHO, NAS, and other guidelines.
