How To Explore & Get Off Campus

Are you interested in getting off of campus and exploring the outdoors with other UNH students? If so, then checkout the programs offered by the Hamel Recreation Center.

During the weekdays and the weekends, Hamel Rec offers a variety of programs for students to take advantage of. Whether you’re interested in Surfing, Water Tours, Backpacking/ Overnights, Full Day Hikes, Ice Climbing, Rock Climbing, or Telemark Skiing, Hamel Rec offers nearly any adventure you can think of. For these programs, UNH Campus Rec encourages students to get out of their comfort zone and try something new!

The Outdoor Adventures offered by Hamel Rec are all-inclusive, meaning gear and transportation are always provided. In addition, these programs are open to not only those who are experienced, but also those who are beginners. Most of the Winter/Spring Trip prices range from $5-$75, depending on the program that you decide to participate in. However, if you’re looking to save money but still be adventurous, there are also free clinics offered. These free clinics take place from 12:30-1:30, and are a crash course on all the things you need to know before venturing into the great outdoors. If you’re interested in learning out to set up a tent, find an effective camping spot, planning a route for hiking, or manuerving camp stoves, then consider attending one of these programs.
