Feel Safer On Campus
Everything you need to know about UNH’s newest safety app.
Recently, the University of New Hampshire announced their support of an app called uSafeUS. The app has been launched at 21 colleges and universities in New Hampshire as an effort to reduce the number of sexual assault cases, and to be better notified when a dangerous situation arises. Within the app are several features that provide safety measures to students in potentially threatening situations. The app is designed to be easily used from a phone in order to discreetly alert officials when you or a friend is in a potentially dangerous situation.
Here are some of the features:
Time to leave: This feature will send a fake text or call to the user’s phone, giving them an excuse to get out of an uncomfortable situation
Angel Drink: This feature allows the user to send a discreet message to the bartender or wait staff if they are feeling uncomfortable, or need help in some way.
Expect Me: This feature allows the user to contact a friend if they are in need or help while walking home alone at night.
