Take a break, destress, stay active, and get some fresh air!

 

Do you ever feel like you need to take a break, destress, and escape your desk for a bit? Luckily, UNH has the perfect solution. There is a 2.14 mile trail right on campus that is about a 40 minute to an hour walk. That is just the right amount of time to unwind, and get some fresh air while staying physically active.

Why you should be taking walking breaks throughout the day:

In order to stay healthy, it is crucial to get up and get moving throughout the day. Research shows that the average adult spends 50% to 70% of their time sitting. Today, many working professionals suffer from “sitting disease.” The longer you sit, the more likely you are to develop heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity.

Benefits of going outside:

Not only can taking time away from your desk to go outside for a walk improve physical health, but it can improve psychological health as well. Research shows that going outside can increase both concentration skills, as well as creativity, making you more productive and focused when returning to work.
