Embrace Mindfulness And Learn To Live In The Moment

Mindfulness is to be fully present in the current moment. Your mind is not wondering off thinking about yesterday or what could happen tomorrow. Being mindful is not easy, especially in today's world with every social platform an arm's length away on our phones. Being able to cut out all distractions of technology or in our surroundings will make you a happier and calmer person.

There are many exercises that can help you to come back to being mindful when your brain becomes scattered with distracting and stressful thoughts. Here are 3 simple exercises that can be done no matter where you are!

  1. Mindful breathing - Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly, letting your thoughts leave while you exhale. Do this for about 1 minute until you feel calm.
  2. Walking meditation - Find a quiet place with room to walk. Focus on the experience of walking. Be aware of what you are feeling and what small movements keep your balance.
  3. Yawn and stretch for 10 seconds every hour - Even if you have to fake yawn, that will trigger a real one. Your yawn interrupts your thoughts and feelings; this brings you into the present.

There are many ways to practice mindfulness every day. The more you practice, the easier it will be! Just remember to stop and breathe, observe something and admire its beauty.
