Find Out More About How To Appropriately Manage Stress Levels

The stresses of work, school, family, and friends can take a toll on your mental well-being. The feeling that you don’t have enough time to get work done, and the guilt of not being able to spend time with your loved ones is enough to put a lot of pressure on someone.

However, there are ways to become less stressed about certain situations. In order to know what is making you the most stressed you must first identify the stressor. Is it not spending time with your family? Is it the assignment due this Friday? Is it one of your co-workers? If you address what is causing you the most stress you can adapt your reaction to the situation or you can avoid the stressor entirely.

If you avoid your stress enough, it can become normal to you, which can become harmful to your overall health. Not dealing with stress in the right way can lead you to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as eating unhealthy foods, smoking, drinking, isolating yourself or dwelling too much on the negatives in your life. Healthy ways to cope with stress include:

  1. Eat a healthy diet – lots of fruits and vegetables
  2. Get eight hours of sleep
  3. Spend time with your friends and family – they will make you feel happier
  4. Avoid excessive sugar and caffeine – they will cause a crash and make you feel worse.

Everyone has stressors in their life, but the key is to find the right way to manage them so that you have time for all of the important things in your life!
