Lengthen Your Life With Fitness

How Endurance is Linked to A Longer Life

A recent study by the Cleveland Clinic showed that there is a correlation between cardiorespiratory fitness and longevity of life. Generally, most people know that working out and being fit is good for your health, but now there is measurable evidence showing the correlation between high levels of fitness and reduced risks of mortality. 

They found that this was true across all levels of fitness. Those with the lowest fitness were more likely to die earlier, average fitness-levels lived longer and those with the highest levels of fitness lived the longest.  There was no indication that someone can be considered “too fit”, the data showed that the more fit you are, the longer your life.

Here are some ways to be active and increase your fitness!

  • Hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
  • Jogging outside
  • Taking your dog for a walk

There are many ways that you can stay active on the UNH campus. One example is UNH Outdoor Adventures; they offer a variety of outdoor activities that can help to maintain or build your fitness to increase your longevity of life!
