Coastal Fitness Trails in Eastern Australia; A New Approach to Outdoor Fitness

Do you love the outdoors but don’t want to leave the equipment routine at your gym?

Australian communities may have found a great new approach to outdoor fitness. I have traveled to several coastal communities during my semester abroad and have come across many fitness trails. These trails stretch for several kilometers along the coastline and have a variety of exercise station checkpoints.

Stations include

  • Pull up bars
  • Squat Machines
  • Benches for Tricep dips
  • Elliptical Machines
  • & More

This concept is great because you can run between each station, incorporating cardio exercise, and then target muscle groups via strength training exercises at the stations along the way. It is a full body workout all while enjoying the outdoors and spectacular ocean views. If that isn’t motivation to exercise then I don’t know what is.

This is great wellness promotion and goes to show the importance of fitness and health in these Australian communities. The stations are permanent structures, don’t require any electricity, have minimal maintenance, and can be used at any time of the day for free.

I haven’t seen anything like this in New Hampshire however I encourage people to create their own fitness trail routine.

You can use the benches, sidewalks, playgrounds, stairs, and other structures along your run to add some muscle strengthening into your workout. So get up, get outside, and enjoy the warmer weather while having a full body workout.
