Do you love to run? Are you someone who would like to start running? Are you looking for a way to challenge your body on a whole new level?

The UNH Half Marathon Club may be the club for you!

This club is for students who have a common interest in running and want to challenge themselves. It provides a structured running schedule to prepare for an optional half marathon at the end of the semester. The practices train you in speed, endurance, and recovery runs. This club encourages a noncompetitive environment where people are allowed to set their own goals and standards.

Christiana Begin is a sophomore at UNH and is currently a co-president of the Half Marathon Club; this is what she has to say about it,

“As a sophomore here at UNH, becoming part of the Half Marathon Club and later becoming president of the club has been one of the best decisions I’ve made during my college career. I’ve not only become a stronger athlete, I’ve made friends and grown to be a more confident person. I never thought I would ever be able to run a 13/1 mile race, but being part of a team of people who all share the same love and dedication to running allowed me to accomplish that goal. Joining the team definitely allowed me to realize that when you put your mind to something, you truly can achieve it. I not only pushed myself physically, but I also allowed myself to be more open to meeting new people. I never thought I’d be able to meet so many people who share the same love of running that I do!
Anyone who enjoys running outdoors, setting personal goals and especially meeting new people are welcome to join this club. If you join, you’ll not only be glad you did, but you’ll be proud to see what you truly can accomplish.”

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, visit the Half Marathon Club website for more information.

You can also visit the Memorial Union Building Website to see other student organizations on campus. If you are interested in doing an upcoming race at the end of the semester, or in the near future, 5K For Spay is on May 2 and it raises money to spay and neuter feral animals.

Healthy UNH coordinates a fun 3K Walk NH at UNH on June 3rd, and watch out for the annual 5K Homecoming Road Race this coming fall!
