Hearty, Healthy Breakfast In The Blink Of An Eye

The month of March is all about making things simple, so why not simplify your first meal of the day! Oatmeal is a wonderful breakfast choice that is sure to keep you full until lunch time. The best thing about it is it can be made in less than 3 minutes via the microwave. If you have more time, it can also be made on the stove top. Oats contain soluble fiber, which takes your body more time to digest, keeping you fuller for longer!

Here are some quick, simple ingredients to add to your morning bowl of oats:

  1. Nut Butter - There are tons of different nut butters out there in today's market. Peanut butter, sun butter, almond butter, and even pistachio butter is starting to make an appearance. Adding this ingredient to your oats takes seconds, and adds a delicious source of heart healthy fats. 
  2. Greek Yogurt - Dollop on any flavor of Greek yogurt for added protein, probiotics, and flavor to your morning oatmeal. 
  3. Egg Whites - Studies show that breakfasts rich in protein may be linked to increased satiety. Adding about 1/2 cup of egg whites to your oats before throwing them in the microwave can sneak in 13 extra grams of protein to your breakfast. Sound weird? You can't even taste them when they are mixed in!

If you like your oats on the sweeter side, drizzle on some honey, maple syrup, or whatever your sweetener of choice is. All of these toppings can be used on their own, or together to bring you a delicious, simple, and healthy breakfast to start your day off on the right foot.
