Chicken Soup May Be Good For The Soul, But It Is Great For The Body Too

There are a few well-known remedies for treating cold symptoms. These include getting lots of rest, drinking lots of fluid and eating lots of chicken noodle soup. Chicken noodle soup is a common food choice among people with cold symptoms, and luckily it comes with a ton of benefits. These benefits include:

  • Easy to Eat: A lot of the time when we are sick we don’t feel like eating, but soup is relatively easy to consume and doesn’t leave you feeling over-full.
  • Vitamins, Minerals, Calories and Protein: Because we often aren’t hungry when we are sick, it can be hard to get the nourishment that we need. Chicken noodle soup has high amounts of everything we need to focus on consuming when we are sick.
  • Fluids and Electrolytes: Staying hydrated is crucial to getting better. The broth in the soup will help with hydration.

If you are not a fan of chicken noodle soup there are a lot of other healthy foods that can provide similar benefits to your body when you are sick including hot beverages, citrus foods, yogurt and popsicles. It is important to eat right all of the time, but especially when you are sick so that your body can get the nutrients that it needs in order to recover faster.
