Seasonal Produce: The Holiday Season
November 26, 2018
What You Should Eat this Holiday Season
As we make our way into the holiday season, it is good to keep in mind the produce that will be in season! When eating seasonally, you choose to purchase and eat foods around the time and place that they are being harvested. The Seasonal Food Guide explains that eating seasonally means fresher, more flavorful and nutritious foods. It also allows you to consume foods that are produced locally, so foods are not being transported long distances to be at your table!
Here are a few foods that are in season and local to New Hampshire right now.
- Arugula
- Brussel Sprouts
- Cilantro
- Cranberries
- Spinach
- Mushrooms
- Kale
Purchasing local and seasonal food is beneficial to the environment, local economy and supports your community. Eating local produce can also support and benefit your health.
