Find Out How To Avoid The Holiday Weight Gain
With the holidays right around the corner, it can be easy to say “forget it” to your normal routine, and eating behaviors. That being said, during the holiday season, the media reports that people gain about five pounds, while in actuality, the average person gains about one pound. This doesn’t seem so bad right? Well, studies have shown that people usually never lose that extra pound they put on, and year after year this adds up.
However, there are ways to avoid that extra weight gain during the holidays. Some tips include:
- Exercise – exercising is the best way to fight off unwanted weight gain, especially if you are eating extra calories
- Eat only the foods that you really like – if you’re indulging, make it something good
- Go to social gatherings to gather (not to eat)
- Eat before you go somewhere – you will be less likely to overeat later
- Don’t “save up” calories – this can throw off your metabolism, it is better to eat throughout the day
- Drink lots of water
- Make sure to get enough sleep – sleep regulates hormones and they could be thrown off if you skip out on sleep
The holidays don’t have to be a time of weight gain. Ditch that idea, and be aware of how and what you’re eating. As said by Oscar Wilde, “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”
