Do You Work Out Fasted?
Discover Why You Should Always Eat Before A Workout
Do you ever hop out of bed in the morning and go straight to the gym? It is very common for most people to want to work out in the morning, get their day started right and have time to get things done the rest of the day. But, when you work out in the morning should you forego breakfast? The answer is: never!
It is a common myth to believe that when you work out on an empty stomach, your body will burn more fat than it would on a full stomach. This is far from the truth. Your body actually burns the same amount of fat whether you eat before a workout or not. The difference is, if you work out on an empty stomach, you are burning protein (being your own muscle mass) instead of carbs.
In order to avoid burning muscle mass while you work out, try these great pre-workout snacks:
- Apple or pear with 1-2 tablespoon of peanut butter
- Homemade granola bars
- 1-2 rice cakes topped with nut butter
- ½ cup of oatmeal with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
- Peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread
