Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month?

National Nutrition Month is sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This year’s theme is “Bite Into A Healthy Lifestyle”, which encourages people to create eating and exercise plans that are focused on eating fewer calories, making informed food choices, and getting daily exercise in order to be a healthy weight.

“National Nutrition Week” was started in 1973, but became National Nutrition Month in 1980 after a growing public interest in nutrition.

A healthy lifestyle of physical activity and an eating pattern that meets nutrient needs within calorie limits is important to maintaining good health.

Although eating healthier may seem hard at first, every little step counts! Even small changes like choosing fat free milk instead of whole milk with your cereal in the morning will make a difference.

Here are 15 Health Tips for 2015 by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics:

  • Eat breakfast
  • Make half your plate fruits and vegetables
  • Watch portion sizes
  • Be active
