What Physiologic Benefits You Can Find Through Meditation?
Do you ever feel like you are always on the go and you don’t have any time to relax? Are you finding it difficult to have that “you time”. Well don’t you worry because there is a solution! Meditation is a simple and fast way to bring inner peace within yourself and wipe away the daily stressors in life and to help you to feel more relaxed. It is an experience when you quiet your mind, relax your body, and awaken the sprit inside of you. Meditation can be practiced anywhere whether you are outside taking a walk, at your desk closing your eyes, or even riding the bus. You don’t need any special equipment nor are there any expenses involved. During meditation you are focusing on eliminating of all the jumbled thoughts that may be the cause of you feeling hectic and stressed. Practicing meditation can cause you to feel calmer, feel at peace, and enhance your emotional and overall health.
Meditation has many physical benefits such as it lowers high blood pressure, decreases tension pain, improves the immune system, increases energy level, achieve a better nights rest, and increases serotonin levels which causes improved behavior and mood. Meditation also has mental benefits in which your emotional stability improves, anxiety is reduced, creativity is increased, increased job satisfaction, better relationship with others, enhanced concentration, and improve awareness.
Feeling stressed at work can be detrimental toward your work progress and efficiency. The Office of Health Education and Promotion at Health Services offers free meditation sessions to the campus community to learn how to meditate and achieve overall wellness. Every Monday from 12:15-12:45 PM in MUB 334, guided meditation sessions are offered. It is unbelievable that taking only 30 minutes from your day can make you feel like a whole new person.
