How does getting this vaccine make you feel?

I feel excited and lucky that I got to receive the vaccine. I mean, in a physical sense my arm is pretty sore and I feel groggy, which means my immune system is working. But there’s hope for the future!

What does getting this vaccine mean to you?

Currently I work in an assisted care facility, and they have very limited movement in terms of seeing their family and stuff, especially during the pandemic. I’m lucky that I am young and healthy, so I feel like I can help them make more steps towards seeing their loved ones if I get vaccinated for them.

What would you say to someone who feels hesitant about getting the vaccine?

It’s a personal choice, and you have every right to feel hesitant. At the same time, I think I would rather get the vaccine and feel kind of crappy for one day than get COVID. Definitely do some research, but it’s ultimately up to you… you know what is right for you and your body better than anyone.

What have been some of your favorite ways to stay physically active during the pandemic?

Ahhh I like to go on walks… I like to get outside, this summer/fall I did some hiking, swimming, surfing... Or even just an at home workout session gets your endorphins pumping, and endorphins make you happy.

How have you been taking care of your emotional wellbeing during the pandemic?

Definitely talking it out with my friends and family. Exercise and having a routine helps a lot. Or just crying it out and feeling better 2 minutes later...or watching America’s Next Top Model.

How do you stay connected with others?

Social media/Facetime for sure…. I play some video games with my sister and friends and we voice chat a ton. Also, I’m lucky I have a couple roommates who are my good friends, and we have a lot of laughs together.

Now that you have received the first dose of the vaccine, what is the next thing that you will be holding onto for hope?

Ahhh… probably the second dose so I can get it over with!

Do you have any positive words of encouragement for members of our audience who are feeling completely drained and burnt out from this pandemic?

I feel you! You’re doing amazing for such crazy circumstances. Keep talking to your friends.. listen to your favorite songs.. take the pressure off yourself. Take care of yourself.
