1.What does health mean to you?
Health is very important. It is not all about looking good for yourself and others, but I believe it is about feeling good. Exercising and eating healthier foods makes my body happier each day.
2.What do you do to make a healthy UNH?
I try to just eat right and maintain my exercise. It isn’t hard for me to get in the exercise I need, but the food I eat is really important. Being a highly intensive athlete, eating the correct foods are extremely important in staying healthy.
3.How do you stay fit?
I am on the UNH Varsity Women’s Rowing team! We exercise every morning from 5:30/6am to 8am. Usually about an hour or more of a high-intensity activity. We also have extra workouts we do during the afternoons. We usually have 3 to 4 extra workouts a week we have to finish!
4.Do you have any tips for eating healthfully?
Honestly, once you start trying new foods and being open about what you are eating, it helps a lot! There are so many healthy foods out there that people are afraid to try. And once you start eating healthier, you will notice the way your body feels. Also, eating healthy doesn’t mean to stay away from carbs or pizza or ice cream. You can eat all that! Just eat a reasonable amount and exercise often! There is no harm in eating food that tastes delicious! But, some very healthy foods taste so good too!
5.How do you find motivation to stay healthy?
I get sick a lot. I know that staying healthy will decrease my chances of getting sick each year. I also want to be able to perform to my best ability while rowing, so eating healthy is extremely important.
6.Have you made any tangible improvements to your physical or mental well-being by making positive changes in your life?
I notice that I am generally a happier person. It is scientifically proven that eating healthy and exercise will make you happier! I also have definitely gained more muscle and lost fat which is a plus!
