 How YOU Can Get Involved in National Public Health Week 2017

Get Involved in the Movement!

National Public Health Week will be celebrated from April 3rd to April 9th this year! National Public Health Week is an initiative of the American Public Health Association (APHA). According to the APHA website “Public health promotes and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, learn, work and play.”

On the National Public Health Week 2017 website there are tools and resources to help get everyone have a successful week. Stopping by their webpage gives you plenty of opportunity to get involved in NPHW 2017, including:

  • Checking the “Facts for the Week”: This is a list of important public health services that should be achieved to maintain the healthiest nation possible. Objectives on this list include giving everyone a choice of safe, healthy food as well as providing quality health care to everyone.
  •  Join APHA’s 1 Billion Step Challenge: Join APHA’s step challenge by tracking your steps for the week or challenging some friends to a step competition!
  • Attend a NPHW Event: Visit the NPHW Event Page and filter the location by your state to see a variety of events that are being hosted in a community near you!
  • Join Generation Public Health: Sign APHA’s Generation Public Health pledge to help improve health and express why you believe public health is important!

 This National Public Health Week let’s all promote health prevention, advocate healthy policies, and celebrate the role of a strong public health system!
