The semester is coming to an end, and with it comes lots of stress. Finals are approaching, assignments are due, and the stress seems to keep piling on. Don’t you wish you could just get a break? Well, here is a tip to help you relax in the upcoming weeks; just breathe.
Stress can cause your anxiety to rise, which in turn, causes your breathing to become quick, shallow, and irregular. Using breathing mediations can help your breath to become shallow and calm. By focusing on your breath, you become more tranquil and your mind becomes more aware of your surroundings. This in turn allows your body and your mind to become more relaxed. Breathing mediations are easy and can be incorporated in any part of your day!
Here on some tips on how to add a breathing meditation to any part of your day!
1. Find a quiet area where there is little distraction.
2. Close your eyes and sit comfortably.
3. Take a deep breath through your nose.
4. Hold your breath for a few moments before exhaling.
5. Exhale through your mouth slowly.
6. Repeat for 5-10 minutes.
