Similarities And Differences In Symptoms

With the flu season right around the corner amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, many people who may contract the flu or COVID-19 may have difficulties deciphering the different symptoms between COVID-19 and the flu. It is known that COVID-19 and the flu have many similar symptoms, but there are a few key differences to decipher the two. To help understand the different and similar symptoms of each, check out the list below.

Similar symptoms of the flu and COVID-19: 

  1. Fever and chills 
  2. Cough
  3. Shortness of breath 
  4. Fatigue
  5. Sore throat
  6. Runny/stuffy nose
  7. Body aches
  8. Headache 

The difference between the flu and COVID-19: loss of taste or smell. 

Although both viruses have very similar symptoms, it is crucial to understand that both viruses can affect everyone differently. With both, some are fortunate enough to make full recoveries. We are going into uncertain times, but there are ways we can protect ourselves and others from contracting both viruses. Get your flu shot, wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, practice physical distancing, and don’t go out if you feel sick. By working together and following safety guidelines, we can protect ourselves and those around us.
