How To Stay Active While Taking Online Classes

Simple Exercises You Can Do At Your Desk

Are you tired of sitting through Zoom classes and staring at your computer all day? I know I am! The beauty of virtual classes is that you often have the flexibility to move around that you don’t always get in a traditional lecture setting. Next online lecture or meeting you have, try out some of these ways to stay active!

  1. Do squats, push-ups, or jumping jacks. Turn off your camera and aim to do 5 squats or push-ups or 15 jumping jacks every 10 minutes of your lecture.
  2. Stand up! If you need to have your camera on, stand at your desk or counter instead of sitting to activate your leg muscles during class. You can even do some standing stretches, calf raises, or walk in place to push yourself more.

  3. Do some desk exercises. There is a whole host of exercises you can do right from your work space. Most these can be done without anyone even knowing, and you will quickly see the results!

Remember, anything is better than nothing. Even if you make a pact to do 5 squats before and after every class, that is awesome! Don’t let the online platform get you down - this is what we have to work with and we are going to make the best of it! Happy learning!
