UNH Health and Wellness Daily Recharge

Did you know that UNH Health and Wellness still has its Daily Recharge series? They are still held Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 1:00 pm. Just like at school, you can join Health and Wellness staff in meditation, napercize, and other activities to pause, unwind, and recharge.

This week, I participated in napercize with Dawn Zitney, one of the Mental Health Counselors/Educators. I was a little apprehensive at first, because I was not sure that these services would convert over to tele-health well . At 12:30, I opened Facebook Live and joined her on the Health and Wellness page. She started out talking about the importance of sleep, then encouraged us to get comfortable for the napping portion. I laid down in my bed and got cozy. She guided use through a relaxing body scan and I slowly drifted to sleep. Twenty minutes later, she gently woke us up, but encouraged us to remain resting if we were not ready yet.

Even though I was only resting for 20 minutes, I noticed I had increased energy for the rest of the day. The quick mid-day break also made me more productive for the afternoon, and I did not have my typical afternoon slump.

I would definitely recommend the Daily Recharge series and the other telehealth services that Health and Wellness offers. Self-care is important now more than ever, so take time for yourself. If you want something a little more private, you can also schedule an appointment through Zoom with any of the staff for wellness coaching, nutrition coaching, and non-emergent medical services. UNH is doing its best to support its students during this time, so be sure to take advantage of everything offered at this time!
