How to Make a Healthy Grocery List

Grocery Staples For Healthy Eating

Eating healthy can seem overwhelming and expensive. You may not be sure what to buy, or what ingredients are versatile. One way to combat this is to make a list of healthy grocery store staples that you buy every week.

Throwing together a quick and nutritious meal can be extremely easy, however it requires a stocked kitchen. Having a go to list for when you’re grocery shopping can save you time and stress. These ingredients are versatile and can be made into any combination of healthy meals and snacks!

  • Leafy Greens. Leafy greens are packed with nutrients like vitamins, fiber, antioxidants, and minerals! There is also a large variety, such as spinach, kale, romaine, and arugula. Leafy greens can be made into a salad, added to a smoothie, or even into soups!

  • Eggs. Eggs are an extremely versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed any time of the day. Eggs are also an excellent source of protein and vitamins. Eggs can last up to five weeks, and can be scrambled, poached, fried, or added into pasta, wraps, and salads! The opportunities are endless.

  • Fruits and Vegetables. Although this one may seem obvious, fruits and vegetables are great to always have on hand. They can be added into meals or enjoyed as snacks. One tip is that if you find your fruits and vegetables going bad before you get a chance to use them, buy froze produce! This can help extend their shelf life.

  • Greek Yogurt. Greek yogurt  is a great source of protein, calcium, and vitamin B12. It is also includes a lot of probiotics. Greek yogurt is very adaptable because it can be used as a healthier substitute for cream in soups, sauces, and so much more! You can also use it in smoothies or a fruit parfait.

  • Whole Grains. Whole grains are an ingredient that can be used to create almost anything! They also tend to have a long shelf life and are an excellent source of fiber and micronutrients. Grains can be used to make bowls, added into salads, stuffed into vegetables, and so much more!

Having a list of go-to staples for every time you grocery shop can help healthy eating seem less overwhelming. It will save you time and stress, and having a fully stocked kitchen may make you more motivated to make healthier choices!
