The Good and The Bad When It Comes to Food

Have you ever considered that the reason for your acne flare up is due to the food you’re consuming? Healthline informs us that according to recent research your diet has a lot to do with acne development. So maybe it is time to consider what your diet consists of as it could play a role in your acne break out. Before taking drastic measures like going on Accutane, change your diet and see if that has any effect on your skin first as it could save you money in the long run. 

With that being said, let’s take a look at 5 foods to stay away from when testing this theory out as well as the 5 best foods to include into your diet in order to achieve that healthier glowing skin… 

AVOID: 

  1. Bread – refined carbohydrates; missing nutrients and fibers  

  1. White Rice – refined carbohydrates; missing nutrients and fibers  

  1. Milk – contains amino acids  

  1. Fast Food – rich in calories, fat, and refined carbohydrates 

  1. Soda – high levels of added sugars and sweeteners 

ADD: 

  1. Salmon – rich in omega-3 fatty acids 

  1. Avocados – high in healthy fats 

  1. Walnuts – rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids 

  1. Sweet Potatoes – high in the nutrient beta carotene 

  1. Dark Chocolate – high in antioxidants 

          There is no need to be overwhelmed by this list as you don’t have to completely take these foods out of your diet. It’s all about control and limiting yourself to how often you eat the unhealthier foods. Instead of eating let’s say pasta three times a week have it every other week or switch to quinoa/brown rice pasta if you want it more often. Finding healthier options to what you’re already eating can make the change in your diet so much easier.
