Description: The Department of Computer Science at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral scholar position to begin August 2022. Candidates should have expertise in machine learning / data science. A PhD in computer science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, or a related discipline is expected by time of appointment. A strong publication record in premier machine learning, robotics, AI, or data science conferences and journals is preferred. The scholar will be partnered with a senior faculty research mentor and may work in collaboration with additional UNH faculty on research projects of mutual interest (e.g., Momotaz Begum, Laura Dietz, Marek Petrik, or Wheeler Ruml). Responsibilities include publication and dissemination of research, teaching one junior/senior-level class per year in the area of data science. The scholar will be supported in undertaking career-building activities such as preparing funding proposals.

Additional professional development support will be provided in the form of participation in faculty development academies with other early career faculty, coaching by senior faculty colleagues, monthly cohort meetings, workshops on teaching and learning, involvement in department activities, and support funds. Further college and university wide professional development workshops and academies, targeted to early career scientists and faculty, are also available.

The Department offers B.A., B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees and currently has 18 research and teaching faculty, approximately 400 undergraduate majors, and 60 graduate students. UNH is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university and serves as the flagship public research institution of New Hampshire.
