Grow Youngstown is seeking a full-time manager for our Farm to YOU market. We are looking for a dynamic individual with good practical sense and solid experience in produce marketing and farming. Excellent skills in writing, speaking and interpersonal communication are key.
The Sales and Market Manager will be responsible for Grow Youngstown’s Farm to YOU Market and report to the Director. Management responsibilities fall into five areas: sales, marketing, sourcing, and distribution.
? Sales: development relationships with client services agencies working with low-income families as well as partnership with corporations and their wellness programming. The position will be responsible for increasing the Farm to YOU market membership by 100% by 2016.
? Marketing: Content management for the Farm to YOU portion of our website, management of our social media, weekly notices / recipes to shareholders as well as development and implementation of promotional opportunities.
? Sourcing: managing farmer relationships, developing seasonal contracts with local farmers, sourcing produce.
? Distribution: providing all pick-up lists and route information to driver and pick-up managers. You must be able to fill in for driver if ever a need arises.
? Accounting: keep a running account of weekly expenses against income for internal use, approving invoices for payment and billing. We use Quick Books – training will be provided as necessary.
The Sales and Market manager will use a variety of custom web and excel applications for management purpose. Training will be provided as necessary. InDesign skills are a plus.
About Farm to You
Farm to YOU is a community supported agriculture style market. We sell shares in a variety of packages: June to June (year round), Season Extender (June through Thanksgiving) and Summer (18 weeks at the height of the season). We sell family and single share sizes. Additionally we have a line of value added goods available to members. We run distribution on one day a week twenty-five weeks a year, then move to once a month during the winter. We use a refrigerated diesel truck and pick-up produce from local farms for distribution to five pick-up locations. Each location is run by a volunteer pick-up manager responsible for transactions and funds. We accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program benefits and we subsidize shares for low-income families.

We run Farm to You: a community supported agriculture style market, have an Edible Corridor project that is a bit of a catch all for our land based projects (Fairgreen Neighborhood Garden and Grow to Own) and do Prep & Preservation programming that covers, cooking classes, food preservation demonstrations and Farm to You samplings. This year we are partnering with several other local organizations to run the Compost Campaign, a series of educational opportunities and a competition—all about compost.
