New Assistan Director/ 4-H Youth Development Advisor


Minimum and Required Qualifications:

  • · A minimum of a Master’s Degree in disciplines such as Youth or Human Development, Child

Development, Education, Youth Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a closely related field.

  • · Substantial experience and sensitivity to cultural differences in working with youth.
  • · Experience working effectively with youth of color, particularly Hispanic/Latino youth,

their families, and communities.

  • · Demonstrated experience planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that achieve

youth development outcomes.

  • · Experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders and developing

productive partnerships.

  • · Demonstrated effectiveness in building on the collective strengths of culturally diverse

youth and adults, including adult volunteers.

  • · Expertise in independently and collaboratively developing reports, one-pagers, briefs, and


  • · Strong leadership skills and experience in program and personnel management.
  • · Demonstrated bi- or multi-cultural abilities and/or skills.
  • · Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills in English and Spanish.
  • · Computer proficiency.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • · Demonstrated training or expertise in intercultural competency.
  • · Extension experience, especially in youth development programming and volunteer


  • · Experience with grant writing and/or proposal development. · Knowledge of regional and statewide youth and community development initiatives and


  • · Peer-reviewed publication(s) relevant to the position.
  • · Experience in Affirmative Action activities.

The Assistant Director for Diversity and Expansion, is a statewide 4-H Youth Development Advisor, headquartered in Davis. The position will provide leadership for increasing Hispanic/Latino and other under-represented youth and adult volunteers in the 4-H community club program as well as other delivery modes throughout the state. The Assistant Director will work with county-based staff and academics to develop and implement innovative program deliveries and adapt current deliveries to meet the needs of California’s diverse youth, families, and communities. As a statewide Advisor, the Assistant Director will also develop an applied research program to support this work.
