Food Safety / Sustainability Intern

 Reports To:

Director of Operations

Compensation:

$10/hr

 Summary: 

To perform various duties related to food safety management, food marketing, and sustainability initiatives. 

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Operations and Food Safety Coordinator with implementation and management of all aspects of food safety in accordance with the British Retail Consortium Food Safety Standards including: quarterly and quality management review meetings, tracking non-conformances, reviewing, writing and tracking corrective actions, employee training and conducting mock recalls and traceability audits.  Help implement continuous improvement benchmarks to measure progress and results.
  • Work with Director of Operations and sales associates on product development and marketing; review and design packaging, flyers and web materials; research and implement non-GMO labeling.
  • Work with Director of Operations and Facility Manager to develop cost-effective ways to comply with the MA Food Waste Ban.

 Skill Requirements:

  • Microsoft office
  • Food/Perishable/Agricultural experience a plus.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
