For the 2016 season, Land’s Sake Farm in Weston, MA, is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, hard-working, and dynamic person to join our farm team as our Field Mower. This is a part-time position that will run from around the end of May through the end of August for 1-2 days a week.
Land’s Sake is a nonprofit dedicated to building meaningful connections between people, the food they eat, and the land; programs include environmental, food donation programs, and sustainable land management. The Field Crew mower will work closely with the Farm Manager to maintain the 40 Acre Field, our main property. We strive to make Land’s Sake a welcoming, community-centered farm for all involved, including customers, shareholders, children, volunteers, and staff.
Responsibilities include:
● Weekly mowing of different fields
● String trimming as needed around the farmstand, children’s garden, etc
● Occasional other site maintenance, such as invasive species removal
This position’s hours are flexible, and are expected to be around 10 hours per week. We will give preference to candidates who can commit to working the entirety of the time period from June to September.
Applicants should be enthusiastic about communication, having fun and working hard. The Field Mower is expected to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail and safety. Working efficiently and independently are equally important.
Compensation includes:
● $12/hr
● Free produce from farm and discounts on farmstand goods
Qualifications include a strong work ethic, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, reliable transportation, and the ability to work for long periods of time in all weather conditions. Previous mowing experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
