Farm Manager Assistant

The Farm at Our House is a 3.5 acre, organically-certified vegetable farm with a flock of 100 free-range laying hens. Our farm, an LLC, is located on the land of Our House, a nonprofit, residential job-training center for at-risk teenage boys. We work with the residents to develop their job skills and knowledge in organic farming. We are located 30 miles north of Washington, D.C. We sell our produce at 3 farmers markets, through a 60-member CSA, and wholesale to local restaurants. We are looking for one Farm Management Assistant and three Interns for the 2013 season.

 Farm Management Assistant:
The Farm at Our House will be hiring one Farm Management Assistant to start by March 1st, 2013. The Farm Management Assistant will be involved in all stages of production, sales, and decision-making on the farm, and will supervise farm workers, interns, and volunteers. This position includes a $320-$400 bi-weekly stipend (depending on experience), $150 towards professional development, an end-of-season bonus of $1000, 8 days paid vacation, and free food.  No on-farm housing is available. The Farm at Our House offers sustainable agriculture internships to college students over summer vacation, or others looking to learn about organic farming.  We can work with your university to help you receive academic credit if available.  These positions come with modest stipends.
