Baltimore City Public Schools is preparing to hire a farm manager for the Great Kids Farm. Great Kids Farm provides opportunities for Baltimore City school students to understand and participate in every aspect of food preparation – from seed to fork – and prepares them to lead 21st century sustainability efforts.
The farm manager, who is responsible for all aspects of farm operations, is in a key position on a small and highly effective Great Kids Farm staff. The roll of the farm manager is balanced between work that is, in turns, rhythmic and creative, established and evolving, grounded in the soil and inspired by vision. The farm manager’s work involves and benefits thousands of students and teachers each year.
This is a rare position at the intersection of the sustainable agriculture, public education, and farm to school communities. The farm manager position is well compensated with a salary and benefits package. This position is permanent and offers a unique career opportunity for the right individual.
Those familiar with the work of Great Kids Farm will recognize the value of this opportunity immediately. If you are just becoming familiar, you should know that the farm is located on the edge of a beautiful state park just 8 miles from the cultural center Baltimore City. In addition to its home as a campus and program of Baltimore City Public Schools, the mission Great Kids Farm is further enlivened by a diverse and skillful community of supporters through the Friends of Great Kids Farm.
