ABOUT NEW HAVEN FARMS: New Haven Farms’ nonprofit charitable mission is to promote health and community development through urban agriculture. We transform vacant, contaminated urban land into urban farms where we grow organic vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Our highly skilled Farm Manager and 45-strong volunteer corps cultivate 8 urban farms, and our harvest is made accessible to low-income families who struggle with diet-related chronic diseases and food insecurity.
ABOUT NEW HAVEN FARMS:
Founded in 2012, New Haven Farms aims to promote health and community development through urban agriculture. Over 50% of our CSA members live within 200% of the federal poverty level, and our shares are distributed on a sliding financial scale. Members receive shares, cooking, nutrition, and farm education on a weekly basis for 16-weeks at our Phoenix Press Farm, located at
15 James St. in New Haven. We currently operate 7 urban farm sites throughout New Haven and plan on expanding to one-acre total growing space in 2014.
ABOUT NEW HAVEN FARMS:
We have a dry baking mix facility, where we develop and manufacture mixes for private label initiatives. Our customers are nationwide specialty food brands and traditional retailers.
For instance, for Hannaford, we produce the Taste of Inspirations Brand Pancake Mixes.
Our Director of R&D and Regulatory Affairs is going out on a medical leave for ~ 6-7 weeks, starting 7/3. We also have been looking for an assistant for her, so this opportunity could morph into a long term arrangement. I also would like someone in-place before she leaves.
