AmeriCorps VISTA

Serve New York AmeriCorps is one of the largest multi-site AmeriCorps VISTA project in the United States, Serve New York works to fight the injustices and causes of poverty that face individuals and communities throughout New York State. Serve New York mobilizes VISTA members to serve with underperforming schools, low-income communities, and people in need. Members build capacity within partner organizations in four areas: health, housing, education, and employment.

The Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition is dedicated to the promotion of human health and well-being through nutrition by providing scientific expertise and technical assistance in areas of childhood obesity prevention, anti-hunger, local food systems and health, survey development and program evaluation.  The Center also submits grants and contracts, both locally and federally, to build the research infrastructure at the local, state, and national levels.

At Foodlink, nutrition education is a vital and integral part of the mission to impact the root causes of hunger. Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables (JSY) is a hands-on educational component of the Supplemental Nutrition Education Program (SNAP).

SchoolFood Garden-to-Cafe Internship - Position Description

 The Office of SchoolFood is seeking culinary interns for its Garden to Café Program. Garden to School Café is a program of NYC Department of Education, GrowNYC and NYC Parks & Recreation, GreenThumb.  The program connects school gardens and school meals through lunchtime harvest events and educational activities.  The purpose is to increase students’ consumption of fresh vegetables and knowledge of healthful foods, farming and the local food system.

Nutrition Education Volunteers

The Bubble Foundation LTD  provides nutrition education and physical education to emerging charter schools in NYC. We are currently recruiting dedicated volunteers and interns ( hours can be used towards school credit or fieldpwork hours)

 Anyone interested in cooking, nutrition, gardening, physical activity aimed toward youth- this is the position for you! We ask for 2 hours of committment a week-during the school day Sept-Dec.
