Holloway Commons is our largest dining hall and we have plenty of shift options.
Each position is filled on a first come, first serve basis and although we try to accomodate personal preferences, an alternative position may be offered based on the availability of hours a candidate can work and what positions are available at the time of hire.

Position is responsible for assembling and cooking of pizza utilizing a Brick Oven and a dough sheeter. Insure that all menu items served have the correct menu tags to communicate nutrition and allergy information. Other items produced for the concept would be cheesy bread, bread sticks and monkey bread etc. You will also maintain the Vegan Station which includes a soup, one sauce (Marinara) plus one pasta and two or three entrees and cookies. This food is prepared in the kitchen and sent up. Closing responsibilities include the removing of all food items at the end of the shift and coordinating with the production team as to its disposition. Cleaning the dough sheeter and mini prep fridge. On Pizza Station, shut off heat lamps and thermal plates. Clean counter tops and glass sneeze guards. On Vegan Station, empty all steam table wells of water and clean according to SOP. Insure that counter tops and sneeze guards are clean and streak free. Communicate with Supervisor before leaving for inspection and any other duties needed for closing (Sweeping and mopping the floor). Assist in other areas as directed by the management team.
Stir Fry Bar
Position is responsible for cooking individual Stir Fry orders following portion guidelines set by management. You will also be responsible to fill and refill the ingredient station supply of vegetables, sauces, rice and batch cooked items throughout the meal period to insure uninterrupted service. You are also responsible to maintain the cleanliness of the lines and the station throughout service. Insure that all batch cooked items being produced have the correct menu tags in place to communicate nutrition and allergy information. Must use separate utensils and pans when cooking a Stir Fry for someone who has special dietary needs, such as allergies. You will be responsible to perform all closing tasks for the station to department sanitation standards. This includes cleaning the flat top, cleaning walls, floors, counter and all equipment used in the station. Assist in other areas as directed by the management team. You must check out with a Supervisor before leaving.
Will work in the dish room performing a number of tasks to insure that all china, glassware and silverware are properly cleaned, washed and sanitized in a timely manner. Insure that a proper supply of clean china and utensils are delivered to the front of the house during meal service. Duties will include but are not limited to pulling and sorting small wares from the accumulator in preparation for cleaning; trucking clean items to various concepts throughout the facility; loading the dishwasher; unloading the dishwasher; sorting and staging silverware for cleaning and delivery. At the end fo the meal pleriod, assist in the cleaning of accumulator, dishwasher, pulper, walls, floors and equipment to meet department sanitization standards. Assist in other areas as directed by the management team. You must check out with a Supervisor before leaving.
This position is responsible for maintaining the stocking and cleaning of the beverage lines, condiment stations, cereal aarea and fresh fruit. There are 3 zones and you will be assigned to one zone for the duration of your shift. You must be able to lift up to 40 pounds (that is how much the milks weigh) from knee to shoulder height and extend your arms out in front of you as you place them in the machine. Throughout service you will maintain the supply of products so our guests do not go without and you will maintain the cleanliness of your area. You might have to sweep throughout your shift and/or pick up spills or stiky areas with a mop. At the end of the shift, you will be responsible to clean and break down parts of the machines, wipe down all counter surfaces, cabinet surfaces and tray bar lines. Take care of all your trash and recycling as well as your dirty rags. You need to make sure you are stocked with all products for the morning crew. Assist in other areas as directed by the management team. You must check out with a Supervisor before leaving.
Scrape, wash, rinse and sanitize pots, pans and utensils at the pot washing station utilizing the three bay sink and automatic pot washing machine. Responsible to put away all the clean pans and utensils in their correct locations. Take care of the trash and recycling throughout the shift. Sweeping and mopping when necessary. At the end of the shift, clean the pot machines, put away all clean pans and utensils, wash down the dirty pot holder racks and clean out the sinks and the garbage disposal. Sweep and mop the floor. Assist in other areas as directed by the management team. You must check out with a Supervisor before leaving.
This position is our most flexible position because you will work in any concept we need you to work in. It could be pots, salad bar or stir fry for example. This position requires the ability to learn new tasks quickly; it is a real on the job training position. Remember you must be flexible and willing to work in a different position every time you report to work. Assist in other areas as directed by the management team. In this position you will work in our Salad prep area located in the kitchen. You will work alongside our full time associates helping to slice and dice all vegetables for the salad bar and deli areas. You will help prep all the items needed for our bar well for the grill, deli, desserts, yogurt and salad bars. You will also prep items for the dining assistant bar wells. You will follow all serve safe standards as it pertains to this area of food service. Assist in other areas as directed by the management team. You must check out with a Supervisor before leaving.
In this position, you will assist the kitchen staff with the preparation of food items. You will learn how to use some of the kitchen equipment, possibly working in the bakery, salad prep, sushi, hot side or central production areas of the kitchen. Cleaning throughout your prep time will also be a responsibility. You must check out with a Supervisor before leaving.
This concept is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and provides the main entrees, starch and vegetable options for all three meal periods. You will coordinate closely with the full time associates to ensure that a proper amount of food items are available to provide uninterrupted service. You will ensure that all items served have the correct menu tags to communicate nutrition and allergy information. You will ensure that all food items are kept looking fresh and the countertops and surrounding areas are kept clean from spills and clutter. You will use some of the equipment that is in the station, for example a steamer and a pasta cooker. At the end of the shift, all food items will be returned to the kitchen, dirty pans and utensils sent to the pot sink for cleaning and the entire concept cleaned and prepared for the morning meal. You will also assist in other areas as directed by the management team.
This concept is open for lunch and dinner. At lunch time you will help to provide hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, grilled chicken, etc. with uninterrupted service. You may assist in the preparation and cooking of lunch items and dinner items. Food production will include the use of a char broiler for the production of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers to meet demand during the shift period. You will also use a clamshell grill, flat top grill and air fry oven to help with the production of food. You will assist in set-up and maintaining of specialty bars for the dinner shift, you will assist with the cleaning of the entire station and restocking for the next day. You will also assist in orther areas as directed by the management team.
Deli & Desserts
This concept is open for lunch and dinner and provides the fixings for sandwiches on one side and desserts on the other. During lunch service, we make hot cookies that are baked and served in the station. You will ensure that all items in the deli cold wells and on the dessert line have the correct menu tags in place to communicate nutrition and allergy information. At dinner time, the deli part of the station becomes a specialty bar for the night, such as a burrito bar. You will assist in the serving of the specialty item throughout dinner service. You will ensure that all food items are kept looking fresh and the coutertops and surrounding areas are kept clean from spills and clutter. You will also assist in other areas as directed by the management team.
Our bakery area is located in the main kitchen. You will assist the bakers with setting up of cookies and muffins to be baked off. You will assist in the cutting of brownies and bars following the proper portion size. You will follow all safe food handling procedures for any tasks assigned to you. You will assist in keeping your area clean and free of clutter. At the end of the shift you will be responsible to clean your work station area. You will also assist in other areas as directed byt he management team.
