TRIO First-Year Students Need to Know

Here are a few things you need to know right away:

  • June Orientation is  important! Even though it will be online this year, you'll find TONS of information about living and learning at UNH.

  • Use the Explore UNH Majors Tool to get an idea of the courses required for your major (if you are undeclared, it may help narrow down your interest).  Do you need to take Calculus? Go here to learn about prerequisites and placement testing.

  • If you have questions about classes, ask your academic advisor  If you’re unsure about what to ask, or want additional guidance, contact us directly cfar.sss@unh.edu or call 603-862-3698 (leave a message and we'll call you right back).

  • Will you need a job on campus? Log in to Handshake, the UNH career site, after you receive your UNH login and password (you’ll need those to log in).

  • If you’re wondering about textbooks, the UNH Bookstore will help you figure out what books you’ll need. You can save some money buying used or renting. Go here for low-cost book resources.

  • Finally, if you’re not sure how to pay out of pocket tuition expenses, send us an email at cfar.sss@unh.edu. We will work with you, Financial Aid and the Business Services to help get it sorted out.

  • Do you have more or different questions? Let us know and we'll add them to this page.
