An exclusive online community for UNH, Wildcat Connections is the home for students and alumni to come together to ask questions, seek guidance, coach, inspire, and share professional success stories. Connections lead to opportunities, and this community is designed to facilitate growth for the UNH network. This is a free resource for all UNH students and alumni, brought to you by the Career and Professional Success team, in partnership with Alumni Relations.
Students can explore professional pathways of fellow Wildcats, learn about different industries, and network with alumni around the world who have volunteered to share advice. Through these conversations, undergraduate and graduate students alike can gain valuable perspectives and connections to empower their professional success.
- Click "Join Now" then "UNH Login" to create your profile using your current UNH username and password. NOTE: Using your UNH credentials will automatically approve your account and grant you immediate access to the community.
- Complete your profile, syncing information from LinkedIn if you choose. Read and agree to the Professional Responsibility Agreement.
- Start exploring and making connections with current UNH alumni that have volunteered to help you!
How do I build meaningful connections with alumni?
Ask honest, genuine open-ended "what" and "how" questions. For example, "What are you passionate about in your career?" or "How did you get started on this career path?" Once you join, refer to the Resources section if you need ideas for getting the conversation started. Think about what you'd like to share about yourself. Be receptive to suggestions and feedback. Approach the connection with an open mind, professionalism, and respect.
Please DO NOT ask a connection for a job or internship in your first message. This community is about building your professional network, gaining exposure to industry experts, exploring areas of career interest, and developing your communication skills. Building rapport with an alum may lead to a conversation about opportunities, but opportunities come with established relationships.
Who can see my profile information?
Alumni and professionals cannot search for or view your student profile until you make a connection request. Other students cannot view your profile.
Don’t be shy about reaching out to alumni. They have joined this community and volunteered to share professional advice and are waiting for you to connect!
How do I use this platform?
Be active! Browse the community of alumni and professionals who have signed up to share career advice by industry, major, employer, location, help topics, etc. Send a message to introduce yourself and ask a question, and/or send a meeting request (via in-person, phone, or video chat) through the platform. You will receive email reminders leading up to your meeting. Most meetings are 30-minute conversations around the specific topics alumni have volunteered to help with: connecting college experience to the workplace, starting a new career, moving to a new city, informational interviews, and more! In our Discussion forum or Groups, you can also post career questions, helpful advice, and more for the full community of users to engage and respond to.

Why volunteer to share your career advice and professional experience?
Whether you're looking to help current UNH students or fellow alumni, seeking out advice from another professional in your field, or looking to network in a new industry/field with other Wildcats, Wildcat Connections has you covered. This is a community to provide students and fellow alumni job-market advice, industry expertise, and valuable post-graduation connections. No matter where you live or how limited your time and/or experience is, you can still make a meaningful difference for someone or many in your UNH family. Wildcat Connections is also a great way to expand your own professional network and show your Wildcat pride!
Who can see my profile information?
Students, fellow alumni, and faculty/staff will be able to search for and view your profile information. Alumni cannot view student profiles, as students must first initiate contact with an alum for a connection to be made. Alums can always reach out to other alumni users, so be sure to both share your advice and build/expand your own professional network!
How do I use Wildcat Connections?
Once your profile is completed and approved, students and alumni will be able to connect with you regarding the career advice help topics you’ve selected. Likewise, you can also utilize the platform to reach out to fellow alumni and professionals regarding the same career advice topics and industry areas. Be active! Browse the network of individuals who are willing to share career advice by industry, major, employer, location, and more. In our Discussion forum, you can answer questions posted by others or post your own.
By signing up for this platform, you're indicating your willingness to help, though it may take time for other students and alumni to discover your profile and reach out. Please be patient if you’re not immediately contacted for individual advice. In the meantime, post and answer questions in the Discussion forum, in the groups you choose to join, or connect with other alumni through the "Explore the Alumni Community" section of the site.
It will be up to you and the other connection to set up a meeting (via in-person, phone, or video chat), which can be scheduled entirely through the platform. You will receive email reminders leading up to your meeting. Most meetings are 30-minute career conversations around the specific topics alumni have volunteered to help with. If you get a request, we hope you'll accept it, but you do have the option to respectfully decline if you don't have the time or the conversation fit does not feel right.
