Program Team Leader, Community and Economic Development

Charlie French leads UNH Cooperative Extension's Community and Economic Development Program, which provides municipalities with planning assistance in the areas of community development, economic development, and broadband planning.  He has over twenty years of experience working with community leaders, with a focus on building local capacity to engage public stakeholders and implement effective strategies aimed at strengthening the local and regional economy. Charlie brings his applied experience into the classroom as a faculty member at the University of New Hampshire, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in community and economic development and land use decision-making. His current research, funded by NH SeaGrant, is focused on cultivating alternative markets and value-added opportunities for NH-caught seafood.
