CPT Joe McKenna grew up in Olney, Maryland, and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, with a B.S. in Economics in 2013.  Upon graduation, CPT McKenna commissioned as an Infantry Officer and attended Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course, Ranger School and Airborne School in Fort Benning, GA.  He then served as Airborne Rifle Platoon Leader, Airborne Rifle Company Executive Officer and Battalion Logistics Officer in 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment as part of the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) located in Vicenza, Italy. CPT McKenna deployed to Latvia in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve and Ukraine in support of Fearless Guardian among other training deployments in support of our European allies and partners. CPT McKenna then attended the Marine Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA.

CPT McKenna’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Ranger Tab, Air Assault Badge and Basic Parachutist Badge.

He is married to Caroline McKenna and has three children, Maeve, Catherine and Tilghman.
