Departure: Newington 9:15 AM and Durham 9:45 AM Approximate time of return: Durham 6:30 PM and Newington 7:00 PM
This morning we head to Meredith, NH in the heart of the Lakes Region, nestled among New Hampshire’s largest lakes: Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake and Newfound Lake. As we travel through Alton Bay and The Weirs, you’ll catch vistas of the wooded shores, the surrounding mountains and the blue waters of New Hampshire’s largest spring-fed, glacial lake.
Our luncheon stop will be at Hart’s Turkey Farm, celebrating 62 years this summer. The entrée choices are: 1) Turkey dinner; 2) Baked ham with pineapple sauce; or 3) Broiled haddock. All meals include tossed salad with cranberry vinaigrette dressing, whipped potatoes, buttered squash, carrot relish, and rolls and butter. For dessert, enjoy apple crisp, plus coffee and tea.
Following a delicious luncheon, we depart for the 2:00 o’clock matinee performance at the Interlakes Theater where you’ll delight in a stellar production of Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein’s beloved Tony- and Oscar - winning musical, The King and I. You’ll reminisce to such iconic musical favorites as: “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance?,” “Getting to Know You,” and “I Whistle a Happy Tune.” You’ll relive the experiences of the spirited Anna, a British schoolteacher hired as part of the King’s plan to modernize his country. As the plot evolves, the relationship between Anna and the King intensifies, often marked by conflict, as well as by a love that neither can admit. You won’t want to miss this all-time Broadway classic.
Our journey home today will take us through Center Harbor and Wolfeboro on the eastern shores of Lake Winnepesaukee.
Handicap Accessibility: Hart’s Turkey Farm and the Interlakes Playhouse are handicap accessible. Cost is $81.00 per person, all-inclusive.
