This morning we’ll travel to historic Plymouth, MA, where the birth of our nation began over four hundred years ago. Our tour begins at the National Monument to the Forefathers, an impressive 81-foot solid granite statue dedicated to the Pilgrims, which strives to capture in symbolic form their founding principles. Local guide Leo Martin will explain the history and significance behind each statue. Next, we’ll walk along the beautiful and historic waterfront, which will take us by Plymouth Rock, Brewster Gardens, and other monuments in the area.
Following the morning tour, we’ll enjoy luncheon on the waterfront at the East Bay Grille. Entrées are: 1) Teriyaki Steak tips with whipped potatoes; and 2) Seafood casserole with rice pilaf, both served with Chef’s selection of vegetables and a garden salad. A coffee and tea station is also available.
This afternoon we’ll tour the Mayflower II, Plymouth’s full-scale reproduction of the tall ship that brought 102 Pilgrims, including 3 pregnant mothers, to Plymouth in 1620. The newly restored vessel returned to her berth at State Pier to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ arrival on New England shores.
