The 603 Challenge

Rise to the challenge
June 3 at noon to June 8 at 6 p.m.

This year’s challenge was a huge success, breaking all previous records. The results — 5,000+ donors and $500,000+ raised — show just how exceptional our community of alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends is. Thank you to everyone who rose to the challenge and supported your favorite areas of the university and to our underwriters for making it all possible. Your Wildcat pride during these six days was an inspiration!

Frequently Asked Questions

The (603) Challenge is an annual, online fundraising campaign that offers alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends the chance to make a gift to their favorite area(s) across the university. And thanks to a generous group of donors underwriting the challenge, these gifts are matched up to $150 per donor until the pool of $150,000 in matching funds runs out. In addition, there are surprise bonus opportunities throughout the week that can make your gift go even further. This online only challenge starts June 3 at noon ET and ends June 8 at 6 p.m. ET.

Any donor who makes a gift(s) online between noon ET on June 3, 2018, and 6 p.m. ET on June 8, 2018, will be counted in the donor total for the challenge and be eligible to receive a match. Matching funds will be distributed in the order that gifts are received through our online giving platform. Donors who make a gift after the funds have run out will be counted in the challenge totals but will not be matched. UNH reserves the right to make a final determination on the distribution based on online giving transaction data.

Matching funds will be distributed to the designation(s) selected by the donor after the challenge. If a donor gives to multiple designations, their total match ($150 max) will be distributed based on the same percentage distribution of their total gift amount.

If the same donor makes multiple online gift transactions, they will only count as a donor once, but multiple transactions can be matched until the $150 max per donor is reached. For example, if a donor makes a $50 gift in one transaction and a $100 gift in a separate second transaction, both would be matched as they total $150, and the donor is only counted once in that total. But if the second transaction were $200, for example, the donor would only be matched $100 on that second gift since they would have reached their $150 max.

Rules for any and all bonus opportunities are varied and will be announced as they are unveiled.

This group of generous underwriters provided the highly motivating pool of matching and bonus funds. Their generosity has been the key to this challenge’s success since its inception.

If you are interested in rallying your fellow Wildcats to join you in supporting UNH, you might consider being a member of the Underwriters’ Club. Becoming an underwriter is simple; make a gift of $1,000 or greater.

For more information about the Underwriters’ Club, please contact the Office of Annual Giving at 603-862-0540 or annual.giving@unh.edu.

Yes, as always, we hope you’ll give to the area you most believe in. This could be a college, academic department, sports team, scholarships, student organization or other program. If you don’t see the specific area you want to give to listed on the giving form, simply select “other” and write it in – we’ll be sure your gift is designated accordingly. You can also select multiple designations!

There are always other ways to give back to UNH, but for this specific effort, we are only counting gifts made between noon ET on June 3, 2018, and 6 p.m. ET on June 8, 2018, as part of The (603) Challenge.

If you are interested in making a gift in another way or at another time but are unsure how to do so, or you would like to learn more about other opportunities to support UNH, please contact the Office of Annual Giving at 603-862-0540 or annual.giving@unh.edu.

No matter the day or time, making a gift to UNH is an expression of your belief and confidence in UNH and helps ensure that Wildcats of today and tomorrow have an inspiring, transformative educational experience. During The (603) Challenge, however, your gift has the opportunity to be matched or amplified through one of the bonus challenges, magnifying the overall impact of your philanthropy.

The amount is entirely up to you! From $6.03 to $603, gifts of any and all sizes are always appreciated, and because the goal of this challenge is maximizing participation, each gift counts the same in our quest to receive gifts from as many donors as possible.

Thank you! The best way to help now is to spread the word to your fellow Wildcats. Tag them on social media using #UNH603 or call, text or email them to let them know this campaign is happening. You should share with them why you choose to give back to UNH and encourage them to join you in making a gift to their favorite area(s) or the university for the chance to maximize their impact.
