Course Requirements: Students electing the Women's Studies Minor must complete 20 credits, including W.S. 401 (Introduction to Women's Studies) and W.S. 798 (Colloquium in Women's Studies), normally taken at the beginning and end of the course sequence, respectively. It may be possible to substitute WS 797( Internship) for WS 798 (Colloquium), but please discuss with your WS Advisor. Additionally, students must complete three (3) other Women's Studies courses, either program courses or those which are cross-listed with other departments. Further Steps: After completing the 20-credit sequence, the student completes the Certification of Completion of Minor form, available at the Registrar's Office. Once this certification is approved by the Women's Studies Coordinator, the Major Advisor, and the College Dean, the Minor is entered on the student's transcript. The Certification form must be completed by the beginning of the student's final semester at the University. THE WOMEN'S STUDIES MINOR The Women's Studies Minor provides students with an interdisciplinary introduction to the status of women in various cultures and historical eras, as well as the contribution of women to various fields of endeavor. In addition, Women's Studies courses offer students critical perspectives on gender roles and gender identity. For the Women's Studies Minor, students must complete 20 credits of Women's Studies courses. These should include W.S. 401 (Introduction to Women's Studies), and W. S. 798 (Colloquium in Women's Studies), normally taken at the beginning and end of the course sequence, respectively. In between, students should select other Women's Studies courses or courses from departmental listings that are cross-listed with the Women's Studies Program.
