Students

Prof. Carol Conaway's Black Women in American History class, WS 595.

The Women's Studies Program provides students with an interdisciplinary introduction to the status of women and gender analysis in various cultures and historical eras. As a relatively small program in the College of Liberal Arts, we provide students with a sense of community and opportunities to contribute directly to changing the campus climate. In a rigorous academic environment, Women’s Studies offers students a springboard for activism. Our internship program enables students to gain first-hand work experience across many fields.

Please view the links at the right for information on the major and other opportunities for undergraduates.

Alexandra Ross-Raymond, a double major in arts and Women's Studies, spent a summer in Germany examining the self-portraits of artist Paula Modersohn-Becker. Ross-Raymond explored the intersection of gender and identity in the artist's work, and then created her own series of paintings based on her studies.
