The European Cultural Studies Minor

student in classThe minor in European cultural studies consists of 20 credits (five courses): ECS 400, ECS 500, a 504-level in a European language, one foundation course, and one elective.

ENGL 651 or 652, when inclusive of European literatures (Comparative Literatures)
Humanities 501, 502, 503 (when focused on European topics)
Music 402 (Survey of Music History)
ECON 630 (Comparative Study of Economic Systems)
HIST 435 or 436 (Western Civilization)
HIST 565 (Women in European History)
HIST 650 (European Socialism)
HIST 656 (20th Century Europe)
POLT 550 (Major Foreign Governments)
POLT 552 (Contemporary European Politics)


You do not need to declare a minor; however, it might be wise to meet with a faculty member from the ECS program to discuss your minor plan.

At the beginning of your final semester of study, you should complete a certification of completion of minor form, obtain the necessary signatures, and submit it to your Dean's Office.
