Vision, Mission, Values and Goals

Vision

Every student associates his or her University of New Hampshire education with involvement in a community where all members value learning and discovery, self awareness and understanding. Through their experiences at the University of New Hampshire, every student is prepared to assume the responsibilities of effective citizenship, both locally and globally, and to act with integrity, while respecting the dignity and worth of every person.

Mission

The Division of Student Affairs supports students' individual and interpersonal growth and contributes to their success as learners both in and out of the classroom. Services meet basic health, safety and information requirements. Programs promote the outcomes of a sense of well-being and concern for the welfare of others, proficiency in managing conflicts and disagreement, the development of a global world view, the ability to act in a principled and ethical manner, the ability to make informed decisions about one's future, the capacity to work independently and interdependently, development as a citizen leader, and proficiency in the skills required to function effectively in the workplace and in the life of one's community.

Values

As Student Affairs staff members, we value:

Student Affairs Overarching Goals

  1. Through collaborative efforts with faculty, contribute to students' proficiency in using the skills of a learner.
  2. Facilitate the growth of the student in developing the skills, values and beliefs of a citizen in a global society by supporting the student as a citizen leader and promoting civic involvement of students in communities both on and off campus.
  3. Promote the importance of good physical and mental health as a critical part of student success, and respond to safety and welfare needs and concerns of community members.
  4. Assess and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of programs, services, and staff performance in support of our mission, and plan proactively utilizing information from assessments and evaluations.
