NHTCP FAQs

How Many Courses Do I Take Each Semester?
You should always consult an academic advisor before finalizing your course selection for any semester. After consulting your advisor, you, as an NHTCP student, will be expected to take a minimum of 12 credits per semester for two consecutive semesters. You will then be able to apply for transfer.

  • If, after consulting your advisor, you discover that you need some developmental courses before completing the USNH transfer requirements, don’t panic.
    • This will not disqualify you from guaranteed admission.
    • You will be allowed to take three semesters (with or without summer session) to complete all transfer admission pre-requisites without penalty.
  • Did we mention consulting your advisor?

What If I Change My Mind About Which USNH Institution I Want To Transfer To?
If you were denied admission at one USNH institution you may elect to transfer to a different one.

  • For example, if you were denied first-year admission to KSC, you may choose to transfer to PSU, if you wish.
    • If you do change your mind, however, you must meet the admission requirements of the institution to which you are now seeking admission (ie, PSU, in the example above).

Can I Defer?
Yes, admission into NHTCP can be deferred for one semester or one year.

  • Please be aware, however, that choosing to defer for one year will disqualify you for the guarantee of on-campus housing at KSC and PSU.

What If I Didn’t Apply For First-Year Admission to USNH?
You can still join the NHTCP even if you have not applied for First-Year admission! Simply contact the Admissions Office at GSC or the CC of your choice and let them know that you wish to “Opt-In” to the NHTCP.

If I Drop Out of the NHTCP, Can I Still Apply to Transfer to USNH?
Yes, but you will not be guaranteed admission or on-campus housing. You’ll also be expected to fill out the regular transfer application and pay the transfer application fee.

Is on-campus housing available at USNH?
Yes, on-campus housing is guaranteed at KSC and PSU for successful NHTCP transfers as long as the $200 Enrollment Services Fee and the $100 Housing Deposit are made by May 1 (or by November 1 for spring admits).

UNH in Durham guarantees on-campus housing for students who finish their associate degree at GSC or a CCSNH institution.

Are NHTCP students eligible for an Ace Grant?
Yes, the ACE Grant is available to NHTCP students who meet the financial eligibility criteria after they have successfully completed the transfer to a USNH institution.
